VITA is seeking an Azure Cloud Architect to serve their Richmond office. This position will be hybrid with 3 days on site.
Job Responsibilities
- Advising agency on architecture and security concerns associated with Azure including in-place migrations/refactoring.
- Make recommendations on lift and shift and on-premises to cloud native migrations.
- Make recommendations with refactoring within Azure environment.
- Conduct testing within Azure to show minimal viable products of an architecture.
- Will need to understand available offerings from COV, MSI and other connected parties.
- Will make configurations to Azure in support of agency-level objectives. Configurations will be primarily Azure-based services.
Required skills and experience
- Strong knowledge of cloud fundamentals
- Knowledge of single and multi-cloud strategies and implications
- Knowledge and experience in designing cloud solutions encapsulating all aspects of design that meet business requirements.
- Strong knowledge and experience with Azure network and storage architecture
- Strong knowledge and experience with Azure Services (examples Azure Key Vault, Entra ID, etc.)
- Strong knowledge and experience with Azure Functions, Azure Web App/App Service, Containers, micro-services architecture and server-less architecture.
- Demonstrated knowledge of cloud security principles including zero-trust, network segmentation, just-in-time access, conditional access etc.
- Knowledge of availability options. Demonstrated experience architecting solutions that meet RPO and RTO objectives in Azure.
- Knowledge and experience in DevOps including Azure DevOps and GitHub Enterprise Cloud.
- Knowledge and experience in data storage products like SQL Server and Oracle. Knowledge of non-relational data storage products like Cosmos DB.
- Experience as an on-premises architect for 5+ years
- Strong communication skills. Candidate should be able to effectively communicate with technical and business staff.
- Microsoft Certification in Azure Solutions Architect required
