YSI is seeking a Senior System Administrator to provide comprehensive technical support for on-premise servers, storage area networks, and network attached storage, as well as cloud-based storage solutions and virtual computing environments across both classified and unclassified domains. Responsibilities
- Manage the right sizing of virtual machines and make recommendations for additional hardware to increase performance or capacity.
- Assisting the agency with its ongoing activities of migrating systems and resources to an approved cloud enclave including but not limited to migrating data, systems, application, and network storage objects on an as needed basis.
- Create a back-up plan and schedule for mission-critical data and infrastructure configuration data, and a recovery plan that illustrates recovery from catastrophic system failure utilizing data from back-ups.
- Develop and maintain a history of past recoveries performed whether from real world system failures or quarterly data recovery samples.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s (or higher) degree in IT Management, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related discipline; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
- At least 3 years of specialized experience in system administration within Federal/Department of War (DoW) environments, with specific expertise in typical server platforms (Red Hat Linux and similar), virtualization platforms (VMWare and similar), backup applications (Commvault and similar)
- Expert-level knowledge in typical server platforms (Red Hat Linux and similar), virtualization platforms (VMWare and similar), backup applications (Commvault and similar)
- Expert-level knowledge of backup and recovery best practices applicable to a highly distributed enterprise
- Expert-level knowledge of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery planning processes including execution of restoral of enterprise services at an alternate operations center or site
- Knowledge of applicable NIST publications including SP 800-53 rev5, SP 800-34 rev1, NIST SP 800-209, and related documents
- Certifications: CompTIA Cloud+CE, Server+CE, and/or Security+CE, Red Hat Certified System Administrator, Windows Server Adminstrator, VMWare Certified Professional (Data Center or Cloud Management), CommVault Certified Professional
- Active Top Secret clearance required.
