The Virginia Dept of Health (VDH) is seeking an Oracle OCI Cloud Engineer. The potential candidate should be able to participate in on call-rotation. Some after-hours and weekend hours are required based on workload.
Responsibilities:
- Design and manage Oracle OCI environments, including database, middleware, and infrastructure components
- Develop and maintain Oracle APEX applications and ORDS services
- Configure and administer Oracle WebLogic Server and related technologies
- Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations, and conversions
- Implement and manage backup, recovery, and replication strategies using RMAN and other tools
- Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and data protection
- Monitor and optimize database performance, implementing tuning recommendations
- Implement and automate routine tasks using shell scripting and tools like Ansible
- Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to ensure seamless application deployment
- Proactively identify and resolve potential issues, providing timely support
- Document and train on best practices for Oracle OCI environment management
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience with Oracle Database administration, including versions 19c and above.
- 10+ years of experience performing Oracle database migrations from Solaris to Linux (Oracle 11g/12c).
- 10+ years of experience with Oracle database backup, recovery, RMAN, and Data Guard.
- 10+ years of experience in Oracle database performance tuning, maintenance, and overall database management.
- 10+ years of experience providing on-call production support for Oracle database environments.
- 7+ years of experience administering Oracle Grid Control (including version 13c) and Oracle WebLogic 12c/Fusion Middleware.
- 5+ years of experience with Oracle APEX administration and support, with additional experience in Oracle Cloud, AWS/Azure administration, and Windows/SQL Server/IIS environments preferred.
